On May 22nd I attended the eleventh annual Daffodil Ball in Kelowna! This event raises money for cancer and is held in many cities across Canada. This year the Kelowna Ball was raising money for brain cancer and had a goal of raising $200,000 which they not only met but exceeded raising over $220,000. This was the fanciest event I have been to by far, (black tie) and I was able to wear my gown. When I first arrived I was assigned the position as greeter, I met several nice people, who were also volunteering, and I got to chat with them a bit. The woman who was in charge was really nice and was really saying some awesome things about some of the other events I have attended. She was telling everyone to “read my blog, because I do some amazing things. “This was so kind, I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to be a part of so many great events and to have met so many wonderful people. When the guests started arriving I said hello to everyone and sent them off to registration. So many people seemed surprised that Miss Teenage Okanagan was there to help out and they also seemed genuinely glad that I was and I had a great time meeting and talking to them.
One person I met was an elderly lady who was a past Miss Teen Canada delegate, back in the fifty’s, she was apparently the runner up her year!! It was so interesting to hear her story. Once the dinner portion of the event started I left, and went to dinner at the Keg Steakhouse with my Mom and Dad. This was also so fun. Everyone at the Keg loved that I was in my gown, and that I was wearing my crown and sash. It was so cool. Even the General Manger came over to say hello to me, and to tell me that I was the talk of the restaurant!! This was a great event for a great cause, and I had a wonderful day!!
