On June, 21,Fathers Day, I attended the Do It For Dad Walk/Run, with my amazing Dad. Do It For Dad in an annual event that has been happening every Father’s Day since 2003, VJH (Vernon Jubilee Hospital) Foundation and the Vernon Prostate Cancer Support & Awareness Group have hosted the run which has raised a total of $322,222.00 for prostate cancer awareness, testing and treatment!! All funds raised stay locally, with this year’s proceeds being used to help purchase a Ureteroscope used to treat prostate cancer at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, and to provide free PSA testing for men in our community. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among Canadian men (excluding non-melanoma skin cancers).
Prostate cancer is the 3 leading death among Men. The Do It For Dad Run and Walk presented by Interior Savings is a family event, and a rare opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Coldstream Ranch. Coldstream ranch is non-public ranch for every day of the year except for Fathers Day, several family’s Live on this private property in heritage houses. During do it for Dad you can either walk or run 3km or take the challenge and do 8km. Before an after the walk there was a party where there were free balloons, face painting, The Fat Cat from Fat Cat festival, and much much more. During the walk the Kalamaka Pipe band played as you walked by to encourage you to continue on!! Then after the run/walk there was free food from Subway, and an award presentation. It was so much fun to participate in a event with my amazing dad. I LOVE YOU DAD 🙂 👑
