On Saturday Sept 5th I was in the IPE (Interior Pacific Exhibition) parade. And then helped out at the IPE at the kids world. I have grown up attending the IPE and the parade. This parade had over 100 entries, so it was huge!! Before the parade I got to meet the new Penticton Ambassadors and the new Kelowna Ambassadors as well as meet the new delegates for Queen and Princess Silver Star (which is the local ambassador pageant).
I then was able to meet my wonderful driver and see the beautiful corvette I got to ride in. The IPE is the second biggest fair in British Columbia so the turn out for the parade was truly amazing!!As well as being one of the largest fairs it also is one of the largest agricultural fairs in Western Canada. Even though it was a colder day in the Okanagan we all still had a lot of fun. Thousands of people came out to the IPE. “IPE general manager Bryan Burns says over the five days of the fair a total of 158,238 people passed through the turnstiles, including 38,673 on the last day of the fair Sunday, Sept. 6. That’s over 10,000 more in total attendance than last year and 8,000 more that 2013.”
In the kids world where I was volunteering at, there was a huge teddy bear that the kids could enter a draw to win. When I say this teddy bear was huge I mean HUGE!! It was taller and wider then me and when we had to pick it up (after it fell over) it took 3 teenagers to carry!! There was also the popular money maker called wax hands were kids would put their hands in hot wax (hands that were cooled first) and make a model of there hands to take home. Every kid loved this activity. Once I showed up at the kid’s world the clowns who were making balloon animals began making several balloon crowns!! These were so cool they even had a heart shaped balloon on the top. The next day I ended up coming back with my parents and riding nearly every ride. Riding the zipper 2 times. I love the fair and can’t wait to attend again next year. P.S stay tuned for BIG news!!
