On June, 18th I hade the prestigious honor of attending the Lions Club Awards Night and Dinner, this is an annual event held for the Lions club and members of the community. I was lucky enough to be invited as the guest of honor. This year it was even more special because it was the Vernon B.C Lion club’s 70th anniversary year. This event was made even more special because the daughter of the founder attended. Each of the guests were welcomed as we arrived and then dinner was served. I sat in the reserved seating, and was first to get my dinner, which we were laughing at because at the previous event I attended with the Lions club I was served last. I got to meet the Okanagan Head Lion, the retiring president and the new president. After the wonderful meal which was catered by Gumm Tree Catering of Vernon, the award ceremony started. This is when I got a wonderful surprise.

They called up SAMANTHA, MISS TEENAGE OKANAGAN. I did not expect anything like this. Then Nancy (the retiring president) waved me to come up to the front, where she presented me with a Lions club Certificate of Appreciation, for helping them at Murder Mystery, which was back in April. Along with the Certificate they also gave me a special (limited edition) 70th anniversary pin. It is such a beautiful pin. This was such a fantastic surprise, and I want to give out an extreme thank you to Vernon Lions Club. And congratulations to all of the new board members of the Vernon Lions Club. You are such an awesome group!👑
