On Friday August the 28th I was back at the Okanagan Library’s book club medals ceremony handing out medals to all the young readers, (and I also got to break in my new sash). The Medal ceremony is a ceremony I used to participate in when I was a kid and I still have (to this day) about 5 medals. The medals are rewarded to the kids who completed their book log that they were given at the beginning of the summer! It was so cool to be on the other side of those medals. When I walked into the room where the ceremony was taking place there was a gasp by the kids! The wonderful kids who I babysit were there and the one even ran up to hug me!!
It was so cute. During the actual handing out of the medals some girls would try so hard to be given the medal by me. We were teaching the kids how to shake hands some would try but others would just pull me into a hug!! After the ceremony some of the kids who I read to at the opening ceremony started reading to me!! And they were great. Then I met a lovely young lady from Australia who wanted a photo for her family’s travel diary. I thought this was so cool to see how international the Okanagan is, especially during the summer!! I want to wish this family happy travels! Thank you to everyone who showed up to the medal ceremony, and to the library for having me. 🙂
